چکیده

Chlorpyrifos is a broad spectrum moderately toxic organophosphorous insecticide. It is widely used in agriculture for pest control and in households as a termicide. However, exposure to chlorpyrifos and its metabolites can affect the public health resulting from its long residual periods in soil and water. Thus, there is an essential need to develop sensitive method for the detection of chlorpyrifos in environmental samples. Emerging technologies like development of biosensor has gained enormous attention in this area. Apart from detection, worldwide efforts are going on to develop efficient and cost effective methods for its degradation. Chlorpyrifos previously shown to be immune to biodegradation has now been proved to undergo enhanced microbe mediated decay into less harmful and non-toxic metabolites. Now-a-days, research activity in this area has shown that a diverse range of microorganisms are responsible for chlorpyrifos degradation. This article therefore aims at giving an overview of the present status of research in analytical detection and biodegradation of chlorpyrifos.

High-performance thin-layer chromatographic analysis of selected organophosphorous pesticide residues in tea.

The separation of 9 organophosphates (monocrotophos, quinalphos, triazophos, parathion-methyl, isofenphos-methyl, temephos, parathion, phoxim-ethyl, and chlorpyrifos) by high-performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC) with automated multiple development was studied. The HPTLC method was developed and validated for analysis of residues of phoxim-ethyl and chlorpyrifos in tea. The sample was e...

Effect of chlorpyrifos on soil microbial diversity and its biotransformation by Streptomyces sp. HP-11

The application of pesticides in agricultural fields not only reaches the target pests but also with soil where it interacts with soil microorganisms resulting in change of microbial diversity. Chlorpyrifos (CP) is one such organophosphorous insecticide most widely used against various insects, termites, and beetles throughout the globe. In the present work, the effect of CP on soil microbial p...

Development of a Freeze-Dried Fungal Wettable Powder Preparation Able to Biodegrade Chlorpyrifos on Vegetables

Continuous use of the pesticide chlorpyrifos has resulted in harmful contaminations in environment and species. Based on a chlorpyrifos-degrading fungus Cladosporium cladosporioides strain Hu-01 (collection number: CCTCC M 20711), a fungal wettable powder preparation was developed aiming to efficiently remove chlorpyrifos residues from vegetables. The formula was determined to be 11.0% of carbo...

Application of solvent sublation for the determination of organophosphorous pesticides in vegetables by gas chromatography with a flame photometric detector.

An effective method for separating and enriching organophosphorous pesticides (OPPs) from vegetables by solvent sublation and the OPPs determination by gas chromatography with flame photometric detector (GC-FPD) has been developed. The effects of organic solvent, nitrogen flow rate, pH of the solution, sublation time etc. on the sublation efficiency of OPPs were investigated in detail, and the ...
